Energy efficiency

The simplest and most efficient methods of reducing the electricity consumption

Where we start saving from

The reduction of the electricity consumption leads to the diminishing of the carbon dioxide emission and also to significant money saving. The measures that need to be taken in order to reduce the electricity consumption are simple and they have to be applied immediately.

The household appliances are responsible for a third of the total energy volume consumed at home. On the other hand, these appliances have a great energy-saving potential. A first measure can be taken at the time or their purchasing, by checking the energy class they belong to. These appliances bear labels mentioning their energy class. Low energy consumption is marked under the energy class A.

Measures for the reduction of electrical and thermal consumption

  • Place the refrigerator away from heat sources in order to avoid its heating.
  • Do not deposit hot food in the refrigerator.
  • Adapt the dimension of the recipient you use for cooking to the dimension of the plate of the electrical cooking appliance.
  • Boil food in recipients with lids.
  • Use the residual heat of the gas ring/ plate of the electrical appliance, which maintain the same temperature for at least 5 minutes after their turn-off (minim 10 minute for the oven).
  • Avoid frequent opening of the over during cooking.
  • Use the washing machine and the dish washer when they are fully loaded.
  • Wash the less dirty dishes and/ or the clothing at lower temperatures.
  • Use the clothes dryer only when absolutely necessary, as it consumed a high volume of energy.
  • Use the Save Screen option of computers and monitors after a certain standby interval.
  • Unplug the appliances consuming electricity in case they are not used, in order to avoid consumption in the Stand By mode.
  • Use the programmable power outlets or switcher cords to easily disconnect the devices holding the Stand By function incorporated.
  • For the lighting of access ways or hallways in the house, use lighting devices equipped with motion detectors.
  • For outside lighting use smart solar lamps.
  • Replace the incandescent electrical bulbs in your house with economical bulbs.
  • Turn on the lights only in the used rooms.
  • Save heating costs by insulating the walls, the floor and the roof.
  • Turn off the heating during night time and when you are not at home for a longer period.
  • While clearing the air in the house, turn the heating items off.
  • Adjust the temperature of the rooms according to their usage.
