Electricity label
The role of the electricity label and the goals of its achievement
The Electricity Label is the document specifying the structure of the primary energy sources used for the generation of the supplied electricity, offering information about the impact of the respective sources on the environment..
Beginning with January 1ts, 2005, according to ANRE, the Labelling of the Electricity Supplied to Customers Guideline is applied. This guideline provisions the fact that, once a year, the electricity suppliers have to elaborate the label concerning the structure of the primary energy sources used for the generation of electricity supplied to customers during the previous calendar year, as well as the resulting polluting emissions.
The electricity labels are printed and sent by the electricity suppliers to the customers that supply contracts have been concluded with until the 15th of April each year, for the purpose of:
- Increasing the customer information level in view of choosing the supplier;
- Increasing the transparency on the electricity market;
- Promoting renewable energy sources and clean technologies;
- Reducing the impact of the electricity sector on the environment.
