E.ON Group in Romania launches the “Energy for life” educational programme
E.ON Group in Romania launches today, the 3rd of December 2008, the corporate responsibility programme called “Energy for life” in partnership with the Iasi School Inspectorate, Bethany Social Services Foundaion and Radio Iasi.
The educational programme started on the 17th of November in the the schools from Iaşi County, involving the participation of over 60,000 pupils and almost 3,800 teachers. For the county of Iaşi, the programme will end on the 31st of January 2009 with a prize awarding competition for the pupils and the schools they represent.
Until 2010, the programme will be gradually implemented in the other counties of the Moldavian region (Bacău, Botoşani, Neamţ, Suceava, Vaslui).
The goal of the programme is to make pupils aware of the risks related to the use of electricity at home and at school, as well as the risks that may occur near the electrical installations in the environment.
Under the “Keep your energy for life!” slogan, the programme addresses primary and secondary pupils and it is meant to generate their positive attitude towards acquiring and observing the rules for the prevention of electricity related accidents.
During the programme, pupils receive one educational guideline, which is studied upon the guidance of the teachers and form masters. Each guideline comprises four lessons, a set of rules and eight working sheets. The four lessons provide the pupils information about electricity, environmental protection, advice on the safe use of electrical appliances and on the observance of warning signals posted on electrical installations. The working sheets are meant to check the acquired knowledge in an attractive and creative manner.
The current programme was initiated by E.ON Energie Romania, as the electricity related accidents annually cause a high number of victims among children.
“The safety of our customers is a priority for us. We are convinced that the “Energy for life” programme will increase the awareness of the pupils and thus they will acquire the abilities required for the recognition of risk situations and for the prevention and reduction of electricity related accidents, which endanger the lives of children”, states Marc Daniel Buck, President of Administration Council E.On Moldova Distributie.
Traian Fîntînaru, educational inspector within Iasi School Inspectorate: “Energy for life is one of the amplest social responsibility programmes wherein the County School Inspectorate of Iasi is involved as partner of E.ON Group in Romania and Bethany Social Services Foundation. Praiseworthy for its realism, Energy for life programme proves to be a “pleasant obstacle” against such risks as it was conceived to be taught in an attractive manner”.
