E.ON Romania finalizes the educational program "Energy for life", rolled out in Suceava County
This program is a social responsibility initiative that proposes to make aware the pupils of the risks regarding the inappropriate usage of electric energy at school and at home, as well as of the risks that can appear in the vicinity of electrical installations located in the surrounding environment.
„Energy for life” commenced in the schools of Suceava County in the beginning of April this year, involving 90 schools, approximately 1.300 teachers and over 25.000 pupils from gymnasium and primary school.
During the roll out of the program, through the educational guides realized by E.ON Romania, the pupils, the parents and the teachers learned information about electric energy, how it is produced, what measures must be taken and what rules must be observed for the safe usage of electric energy, at home or at school, and, least but not last, what must be done to protect the environment.
After the courses, we commenced the theme competition: „Safe and efficient school from the energetic point of view”, within which each school sent a drawing (for grades I-IV) and a poster (for grades V-VIII), inspired by this theme. The jury, formed of representatives of Suceava County School Inspectorate and of E.ON, selected the best 10 drawing and 10 posters, thus nominating the 20 schools for the final phase of the competition.
Today, June 1st, at School….. from Suceava, takes place the final phase of the educational program „Energy for life”, within which prizes are awarded for the finalists of the trivia contest, having as main theme the rules regarding the usage of electric energy.
For this phase, the 20 schools will be represented by a team of five children each. Thus, 100 children will go through a series of interactive tests that will verify the knowledge obtained following the study of the educational guides.
The prizes for the finalists are: DVD players, MP3 players, Ipod’s, photo cameras. At the same time, the winning schools will be awarded prizes, such as computers, magnetic black boards, multi-functional printers.
„I appreciate the involvement of the children and their effort to learn new things about electric energy. Also, I thank our partner, Suceava County School Inspectorate and the teachers for their involvement, effort and the way in which they supported our program”. I hope that this project will contribute in an essential manner to the knowledge of energy usage rules, for the children and adults to be able to avoid the accidents that they are exposed to if they misuse electric energy. I am convinced that all the children that involved in this project will become the promoters of the safe and efficient usage of electric energy, both in their families and in society”, declared Marc-Daniel Buck, Deputy General Director of E.ON Romania.
The educational program „Energy for life” debuted last year in the schools of Iasi County and until 2010, it will be rolled out in all the counties of Moldova, for the children to learn about the efficient usage of electric energy, in safety conditions. The project is realized by E.ON Romania and benefits of a budget of over 150.000 euro.
This educational program completes the actions of social responsibility rolled out by E.ON Romania. In Suceava County, in March this year, with the financial support and coordination of E.ON Romania and the Foundation „For Society”, a new school in Brodina community was inaugurated.
The investment of E.ON Romania and the Foundation „For Society” for the reconstruction of this school amounts to 460.000 euro.
The E.ON Group will continue to develop actions of corporate responsibility in a few major directions such as the promotion and roll out of some educational programs for children, the support of cultural events, medical assistance, promotion of sport for children and persons with disabilities, support for disfavored persons and the encouragement of voluntary actions.
